Tennis Racquets
Thirty years ago, we had a few models of the tennis racquets. Now every manufacturer brings in 10-20 new models every year to keep up with the market. How do you choose the right one from about 150 new models? Do not forget that 150 of last year’s models are still in stores. The rule of thumb is the “SwingStyle”. Basically lighter and larger frames are made for the players with the shorter swings, while smaller and heavier frames are more suitable for the better level of player with fast and long swing. Every manufacturer has either type of racquets in it’s line. It is a matter of preference when deciding which one to choose. Most of the large chains of stores will carry mostly US brands, but you will find vast variety of European or Japanese brands in the tennis pro shops.
Due to the high volume of new frames coming to the market every year you may find a lower price point for the last year’s frames which are almost as good as this year’s. We will update you with the information on the closeouts, but there is always more winning technology in the new frames, which can give you a little edge over your opponent.
There is a large number of places where you can buy tennis racquets, but our advice is to support your local tennis pro shop, where you will service your racquet in the future, even though the price of it there could be a little higher than in the bigger stores or online.
