Slightly Vintage Babolat Tennis Racquets

This one is for all the tennis racquet buffs out there (you know who you are).

I have dug up an archive of the Babolat tennis racquet catalog from 2004, along with recommended retail price of each racquet, now don’t go comparing the prices with what’s in shops now, because most shops sell below the current RRP.

I will post some more archives on other brands in the coming weeks.

Babolat Pure Control Standard Tennis Team Racquets  97
If you’re looking for a straightforward, standard length, midplus players racquet with a stable, comfortable feel, this racquet will suit you nicely. With a swing weight a little higher than many of the best control oriented racquets on the market, it is not only scale heavy, but swings heavily too. For 4.5 – 7.0 level players, who have solid strokes and are accustomed to a heavy, head-light racquet, this is a racquet for you.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Control Plus Team Tennis Racquets  97
Even though it is a half inch longer than its standard length brother, its stationary weight, stiffness level, and head size remain the same. The most noticeable difference is its heavier swing weight with more of a head light balance. This lends a heavier feel to go with increased reach/leverage and somewhat of a higher power level. The Pure Control Plus is ideal for 5.0 – 7.0 level players, who possess solid strokes and are familiarized with head light balance but are looking for a little more heft, reach, and power than your average 12 ounce+ player’s racquet.
RRP $179
Babolat Pure Drive Standard Team Tennis Racquets  100
Stiffer, lighter and more powerful than traditional player’s racquet helps broaden it’s appeal. The Woofer System cushions the impact of the ball and proivdes a comfortable feel. Terrific for medium swing to fast and loopy swing players. Popular among players from 3.5 to tour players.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Drive Plus Team Racquets  100
Used by up and coming American and ATP Tour standout, Andy Roddick. Although it appears to be only a longer version of the Pure Drive Standard, it does contain more subtle differences beyond the extra 1/2 inch of length. It has many of the same attributes of the Pure Drive but with more heft, reach, and power. A nice ‘tweener that’s almost a player’s racquet.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Drive OS Racquets  110
The Babolat Pure Drive Oversize offers more power and a larger sweet spot than the original Pure Drive with an oversize head and extra .5 inch length. Just like the Original Pure Drive, its Stiffer, lighter and more powerful than traditional player’s racquet helps broaden it’s appeal. The Woofer System cushions the impact of the ball and proivdes a comfortable feel. Terrific for medium swing to fast and loopy swing players.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Control Standard MP Team Tennis Racquets  100

Babolat Pure Drive Zylon 360 Tennis Racquets  100
A light swinging racquet that will appeal to intermediate level players seeking a maneuverable, lower powered racquet. It contains a surprising level of stability for a racquet with this size & weight. Possesses a fairly dampened and solid feel from the baseline. The head heavy balance and slightly larger midplus head helps neutralize a degree of shock associated with light swinging racquets.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Drive Zylon 360 Plus Tennis Racquets  100
Has many of the same attributes of the standard but more reach, more power, and a heavier swingweight. Despite sharing nearly the same static weight and balance, the greatened swingweight gives a slightly heavier feel. Still, like its standard length brother, players will find a partially dampened and solid feel from the baseline. Will appeal to intermediate level players who are seeking extra length in a maneuverable, lower-medium powered racquet.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Control Zylon 360 Racquets  97
More of a lighter weight player’s racquet than a ‘tweener, giving it appeal to a broader range of players. Because of the slightly head-light balance, it does not feel much lighter than a traditional player’s racquet, but is deceptively maneuverable. Will be favored among intermediate+ players looking to upgrade to more of a control racquet, advanced players looking for improved mobility, and hard hitting juniors.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Control Zylon 360 Plus Racquets  97
More of a player’s racquet than a true ‘tweener, giving it appeal to a broader cross-section of players. It contains a solid, dampened feel and just a tad more power than the standard length. Despite the extra 1/2 inch length, maneuverability isn’t held up, due to a slightly more head-light balance. A nice choice for players who are accustomed to longer racquets and are seeking a combination of control, power, maneuverability, stability, and a dampened feel.
RRP $179

Babolat Pure Power Zylon 360 Racquets  102
Has a heavier feel than this racquet’s 10.5 ounce stationary weight would suggest, despite the lighter swingweight. A conclusion possibly helped in part by its almost even balance. From the baseline, it provides a nicely cushioned, somewhat dampened feel to go with a uniform response throughout the stringbed. Appeals to 4.0 to 5.0 NTRP level players who like moderate power mixed with good mobility.
RRP $179

Of course, more rigidity means increased power. Although it has a smaller oversize head and heavier swingweight than close brother, Nanotube Power, it remains a lightweight, power category racquet for beginner & intermediate players with compact strokes. Players with two handed strokes will find the extended grip a great advantage.
RRP $229

Babolat Drive Z-Lite  100
Babolat’s Zylon technology continues to change the market, as light racquets capable of producing plenty of power, not to mention beastly amounts of spin, such as as the Drive Z-Lite hit the market. Like the racquet it is intended to replace, the Pure Drive Zylon 360, the Drive Z-Lite is light enough to allow intermediate players to generate serious head speed, and at the same time is forgiving if they don’t hit the ball dead center every time. Players who like to hit with heavy topspin will find that the high sweetspot fits their game to a tee. While most advanced players will find this frame a bit too light for their liking, there’s plenty of room for customization, and with a little lead tape in strategic locations, this could be a lethal player’s frame.
RRP $169

Babolat Drive Z-Max  107
A light, powerful, head heavy racquet, the Z-Drive Max is sure to appeal to beginning to intermediate players looking to put a little extra zip on their shots. The large head size allows for a large, forgiving sweet spot that will cause even poorly struck balls to come off the frame with a solid feel. Babolat’s Zylon technology makes this racquet exceptionally light for its size, meaning that it will be surprisingly maneuverable at the net, and will still be able to get volleys deep in the court, making this frame a great choice for doubles players and intermediate net rushers.
RRP $169

Babolat Drive Z-Tour  100
The most control oriented of Babolat’s Z racquet line, the Z-Tour clocks in at 10.7 oz strung, heavier than the other zylon racquets, but a lightweight among the player’s frames that it is intended to compete with. This means that while hard hitters might miss the classic feel of heavier frames, they will be certainly enjoy the Z-Tour’s outstanding manuverabilty at net, and will be pleasantly surprised at how firm it plays from the baseline. The racquet’s open string pattern also allows it to easily generate topspin, another plus for players who like to crush the ball, but need all the help they can get keeping it in the court.
RRP $169
